Discovering this ethno-specific product made from African fabrics began with my love for African wax prints. Learning about the craftsmanship behind the products and the stories woven into the fabrics deepened my appreciation for its cultural value.
Also, knowing that purchasing these fabrics and employing seamstresses to have the travel blankets made supports Ghanaian women artisans added an extra layer of meaning and purpose to the product, making it more than just a functional item but also a symbol of empowerment and sustainability.
I personally travel to buy the fabrics I use for the travel blankets, fostering close relationships with the artisans in Accra, whom I know both professionally and personally. Accra is like a second home to me, and my monthly visits deepen my connection to the local culture and enhance my appreciation for African craftsmanship.
